Grilled Cheese with Blackberry Jam Recipe

Grilled Cheese with Blackberry Jam

Ok, calling this a recipe is a stretch. I acknowledge that. But! The contrast of gooey hot swiss cheese, salty bacon, spicy jalapenos, and acidic sweet blackberry jam - it is a killer combination.

IF you can find a homemade jam that is less sweet than the storebought stuff, this sandwich will be even better.

Ingredients

Sourdough bread

Swiss cheese

blackberry jam

crisp bacon | fully cooked

jalapeƱos | thinly sliced

A pat of butter

Instructions

Step 1

Cook up your bacon. I am a big fan of oven-roasted bacon cooked on a sheet pan. Usually 400 degrees for 11 minutes, then flip, cook another 3 or 4 minutes.

Step 2

Assemble your sandwich. Layer it how you like. This is my preference. Bread, swiss, jalapenos, bacon, blackberry jam, finishing with the other piece of bread.

Step 3

Heat a skillet until warm, put in the pat of butter. Let the butter melt. Then put in your sandwich. Cook on medium heat, flipping the sandwich as needed until your cheese is melted and the bread on both sides is golden brown.

Step 4

Right before it is finished, go ahead and take a spatula and squish the sandwich to get some of the cheese to ooze out. Let the cheese spread out on the bottom of the skillet and get all brown and crispy.

Step 5

Serve immediately. Enjoy.
